Supported formats

Accepts delimited HL7 v2 messages with separators defined in MSH-1 and MSH-2. Preserves empty positions and distinguishes repetitions, components, subcomponents and escapes.

Segment, field and data type labels come from HL7 v2.5 tables. Use the related HL7 tools to generate sample messages or mask values.

Limits and useful checks

Input is limited to one million characters. It must start with MSH and define valid separators.
This is a parser and editor, not a complete conformance or local-profile validator. Definitions can differ in other HL7 versions.
It does not convert HL7 v2 to FHIR or automatically anonymize content. Use fictional data in examples and review messages before sharing them.

Frequently asked questions

Can I inspect a message without an account or upload?

Yes. Parsing, editing, copying and downloading run in your browser. Message content is not uploaded to a server for analysis.

Why are some fields missing a name?

A field or segment may belong to another standard version or a local extension, such as a Z segment. Its value remains inspectable even when the v2.5 tables have no label for it.
